Apollo tyre

In 1972, the Indian company Apollo Tyres began its tyre manufacturing operations.

Today, it is the 15th largest tyre manufacturing company in the world, with an annual turnover of about 1.8 billion euros (150 billion rupees). With 69.5% of its revenue generated in the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa region, 30% is generated in Europe and 0.5% in the rest of the world.

Tyres for trucks and buses are the core business of the company, accounting for 41.9% of sales. Tyres for passenger cars represent 39.1% of sales. It is also noteworthy that 10.3% of sales are related to off-road vehicles and 6.8% to light commercial vehicles.

The first factory of the group was inaugurated in Prambra, Thrissur, Kerala in India. Today, Apollo Tyres has four production units in India, one in the Netherlands, and one in Hungary.

Apollo Tyres has surrounded itself with prestigious partners: in 2003, the company formed a financial and technical partnership with the Michelin group. In 2004, this joint venture allowed the marketing in India of a new range of tyres, intended for heavy trucks and buses. In 2006, Apollo Tyres continued to expand: the group acquired Dunlop South Africa, and in 2009, it acquired the Dutch company Vredestein Banden.
